LaMar is a photographer who focuses on Black/Brown, Queer, and fat joy and pleasure, in hopes that people use these stories to understand the complexity of the other. LaMar is a resident artist at The Fold Creative Space, a creative collective of local Queer and BIPOC folx making space for the communities they care about. LaMar’s work can be viewed on their website and on Instagram. Hosting monthly “Discursive Galleries” (community conversations) centering said work, LaMar practices Arts in Action wherein the visual is a means to creating social impact, mutual aid, and community development.
LaMar blends natural light portraiture with mutual aid and critical conversation as participatory knowledge sharing about eradicating otherization through humanization. They're an activist, social worker, and artist who uses photography as a medium for storytelling and urban ethnography.
